Beneficial Honey In Skincare
The ancient Egyptians first used honey as a skin treatment to help with both cuts and blemishes. However, it has not been until recently that studies reveal honey's naturally antibacterial and antioxidant powers.
And because it is so readily available and easy to use, organic, raw honey is an excellent addition to any skincare regimen. The enzymes, vitamins, and unrefined sugars fight acne, aging, and inflammation for one of the most effective, unexpected beauty solutions.
Likewise, as an antibacterial agent, honey can moisturize the skin without clogging pores and eliminate the bacteria from the skin that causes acne. In addition to bacteria, the skin's oils are what cause pimples to occur.
Moisturize with Honey
By moisturizing the skin properly, it can produce less of its oil and, therefore, less likely that a blemish will develop. In addition, honey nourishes the skin, making cell structures more elastic and pliable. As a result, the face can better hold its moisture, which also keeps the skin from becoming oily.
Because it is such a great moisture source, it can even strengthen and moisturize dry, brittle, and broken hair. It will both nourish the scalp and rid it of dandruff. In fact, sealing individual hair shafts makes them appear shinier and more resistant to falling out or splitting.
The antioxidant protects the skin from the effects of the sun's rays and can restore the skin's underlying layers that often cause lines, wrinkles, and age spots. Therefore, by fighting free radicals, honey prolongs your cells' life, keeping the complexion fresh and bright.
Use Honey in Your DIY Skincare Products
Honey can keep skin looking both young and vibrant by providing proper moisture and retaining an adequate level. In addition, when mixed with an organic salt, it can slough away dead skin while hydrating.
In fact, combined with other natural emollients, it can help to rescue complexions and severely damaged hair.
Before using any product that contains honey, test a small patch of skin to ensure you are not allergic to it. Honey is both a natural preservative and anti-inflammatory agent. It is excellent for sensitive skin, which might react badly to cosmetic companies' artificial ingredients as fillers in their products. In addition, ensure your honey products are made only with raw, natural honey. Further, for extra hydration, blend with avocado.
